Pork chops is a universally favorite dinner dish. Whenever I hear the “What’s for dinner? – Porkchops’ dialogue anywhere it makes me feel like home. Cooking pork chops is no trick at all if you follow recipe instructions know your figures. Specifically, how long you have to bake pork chops.

1/2 inch pork chops, cooked at 400F 7-8 minutes

Baked meat is always leaner than fried, because the excess fat melts away, that’s why baking pork chops is my method of cooking, when I’m not cooking on the grill.

The recommended temperature for meat in pork chops when they are ready is 145F. Using a meat thermometer to check helps a ton, so you’ll never have to worry if your meat is undercooked at the bone.

You can actually cook pork chops at various oven temperatures. It all depends on how thick your pieces of meat are. If you’re cooking 1 inch thick pork chops, it will take about 15-18 minutes for them to cook at 400F. If your chops are half an inch thick, it will take about 7-8 minutes.

Don’t forget to dry your pork chops with a paper towel before you even rub them with salt and pepper, it will help the meat juices caramelize and this is why a crispy crust forms.
