Boneless sirloin and flat iron steak, grilled 12 to 16 minutes

So, how long does one need to grill steak so that the meat is tender and delicious, but not overdone or burned so that everyone’s day is spoiled.

The method to cooking a perfect steak is simple. Know your meat cuts and how you want them done and you will always have great results.

It’s always good to have a meat thermometer at hand so that you can simply stick it in and check for temperature without having to rely on sight alone.

So, basically the timing comes to what kind of steak you’re grilling and how you want your meat done. For medium rare state, allow at least 12 to 16 minutes for boneless sirloin steak and flat iron steak. It will take 10 to 15 minutes for top loin, ribeye and tenderloin to get ready. It will take at least 15 to 20 minutes for less tender cuts such as flank steak and top round steak to cook to medium rare.

If you want your steaks rare, take about 5 minutes less for each figure. If you need a well done steak, give it another 5-6 minutes on the grill, but it’s still best to use a thermometer. Safe temperature of the meat for a well done steak should be 150F.
