This simple, intensely flavorful penne pasta casserole, made with smoked sausage, cheddar cheese and cream of celery soup might blow your mind.

If you are looking for a dish to surprize people at a cookout or a potluck or maybe you have an angry neighbour to appease, this casserole will do the trick.

The penne pasta has a tube-like shape which is perfect for cooking with sauce and casseroles. The sauce gets inside each little penne and thus you have a little flavor explosion with every bite you take.

The combination of ingredients may look a little intimidating at first sight, but in fact, those are all pre-cooked or canned things you can easily get off the shelf.

If you don’t have cheddar french-fried onions, I know my grocery store sometimes doesn’t have them, so I use regular onions and any cheesy potato or corn chips for a bit of a crunch.

You can also easily substitute smoked sausage with Italian sausage if you like it better. It’s also important to use condensed and undiluted cream of celery soup. I have to say I tried this recipe with cream of chicken and cream of mushrooms canned soup and somehow cream of celery works best for me.

The making process is very easy, just follow the simple instructions below and don’t forget to stick to your pasta box instructions when you boil the pasta. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
