This pork pie reminds me of cold winters and warm evenings next to a roaring fireplace somewhere up north, while the snow is swarming the streets and you’re enjoying a hot homemade meal, something savory, simple and delicious, like this pie.

This pork pie recipe is simple – pie crust, a mixture of ground meat, potatoes and seasoning, and that’s pretty much it. And yet, the result is delicious. The ground meat, cooked this way becomes juicy and every bite of the pie bursts with flavor.

This recipe calls for mashed potatoes, but I have to say, if you don’t have leftover mashed potato and aren’t really willing to cook some, you can use a raw potato. Just grate it on a grater and mix well with the meat. This way it will cook thoroughly and even add to the texture.

I usually use a mix of ground beef and pork, but using just pork is fine enough. Alternatively, you can add ground chicken or turkey. There are also a few things you may want to add to the filling, to your taste. I like adding onions, regular ones as well as green onions, leeks or chives. Fresh chopped parsley added to the mix also goes right up my alley. I absolutely love serving this meat pie with sour cream, but I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

Serve this pie as a main course with mixed green salad or veggies, or as a part of your holiday table. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!
