Sometimes my life is so hectic, all I have is 20 minutes or so to cook dinner for my family without having to spend money on going out or ordering calorie-laden takeout.

This Kung Pao Beef is a one pot, quick and simple recipe that can be a lifesaver for busy people with hungry kids.

You won’t believe how fast this dish is cooked, but I’m telling you, my record is slightly under 15 minutes. And that is because it took me this long to cook the pasta I served it with.

Here are some tips on how to make things faster. If you’re using a frozen batch of ground beef, take it out of the freezer in the morning, but don’t leave it at room temperature, put it in the fridge. This way, when you come home in the evening, it will be nicely defrosted in the fridge without too much excess liquid.

Start cooking rice or pasta you will serve this with before you start doing anything with the meat. Trust me, this will probably be the longest part of the recipe.

Once your rice or pasta is ready, the beef will already be done. All you have left to do is throw your Kung Pao Beef over rice or pasta.

The amount of spice in this recipe, particularly, chili peppers, create a rather hot tasting flavor, so if you’re not too keen on spicy food, reduce it or skip it altogether.

I hope you have fun with this recipe!
