This recipe is my Mom’s. She is not a big fan of baking, so I have many recipes from her that are reduced to bare minimums in term of effort and ingredients and yet are delicious.
This cherry pie is one of those simple yet timeless classics. You can make it all year round with frozen sour cherries and store-bought pie crust. You can make it with fresh cherries when they are in season and use your favorite from scratch crust recipe.
It all depends on how much time and effort you want to spend, but to tell you the truth, I’ve made all the variants, and the results are different, but they all are delicious to me and to my family. So, if you only have frozen cherries and two pieces of off-the shelf-crust, don’t let it bring you down, you can still make a grand cherry pie.
Serve it with whipped cream, with vanilla ice cream, dusted with powdered sugar, this pie is delicious. The making process is very simple, with the instructions below. You can change the thickness of your filling bit adding a bit more cornstarch or water.
Good luck with this classic recipe!
