I love going to Korea town when I am in NYC for some delicious Korean food. But in Florida where I live there is really no good Korean restaurants. So I had to recreate my favorite Korean barbecue at home and it came out amazing. This recipe for chicken bulgogi is definitely a keeper.

Bring home delicious Korean flavors with succulent chicken that is marinated in an authentic bulgogi sauce and grilled to perfection. Serve it along a side of spicy kimchi and boiled rice for a delicious traditional Korean offering.

The sauce is a sweet, spicy, savory and acidic combination of soy sauce, sugar, Gochujang, Mirin, garlic, sesame oil, ginger and sesame seeds. All the bold, dominant flavors that complement each other creating delicious umami filled bulgogi sauce.

I also grill cabbage along with the chicken for an added freshness and textural contrast. Grilling softens it just a little bit and who doesn’t like beautiful charred flavor and grilled marks. Cabbage works great with savory, flavorful chicken and delicately tasting rice.

The dish comes together in a flash. It takes under 20 minutes to make ( not including marination time) and tastes even better then the restaurant version. The recipe is absolutely foolproof and the chicken comes out perfect every single time. Chicken bulgogi is wonderful for barbecuing during the warm summer evenings.
