Is Asian takeout your guilty pleasure? It sure is mine. Boy, do I love to indulge sometimes and get me a bagful of Chinese food. I used to think these recipes cannot be reproduced at home. I actually thought at one point, they add some kind of secret ingredient to the food which makes it taste so darn good.
Until I found this sesame Beef recipe. It tastes just like at my favorite Chinese joint and I can cook it whenever and wherever I want. It’s delicious, it’s tender, it’s really fulfilling and a perfect way for me to satisfy my Chinese food craving.
The secret to making this sesame beef just perfect is very simple. Don’t substitute anything. Unless, of course, you’re allergic to peanuts. There are other variants of this recipe that don’t use peanut oil. Another secret – add some Sriracha. Just a tiny bit, depending on how hot and spicy you like your food. I don’t like mine overly hot, so I just add a few drops for flavor.
One more tip – unless you absolutely have to, try using fresh grated ginger, not the dried version. It does make a difference. I also tried making this with canned orange juice and freshly squeezed orange juice and have to say, I see no difference.
Serve these with sauteed vegetables or fried rice, and it’s like having restaurant quality takeout. I think my favorite Chinese joint is deprived of a chunk of it’s revenue ever since I found this recipe. I hope you like it as much as I do!
