Tres Leches Cake or, if you translate it to English, Three Milks Cake is a traditional Latin American dessert baked for a number of occasions. It is named so because the cake is drenched in three kinds of milk, which makes it extra moist and spongy.
Tres Leches Cake is a simple dessert with a lovely milky taste. Whipped egg whites make the cake substance super fluffy, and whipped topping and fresh berries create a light, delicious flavor.
Baking this cake is extremely easy. The recipe is not unlike angel food cake, so if you don’t feel like making this cake from scratch, you can use a box of angel food cake instead. One of the important things is that you have to beat the egg whites and yolks separately.
Beaten to soft peaks and folded into the batter, the egg whites will make the cake texture so fluffy, it will melt on your tongue. The three milks you soak the cake in are sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and whole milk.
After you bake the cake, soak it and frost it, you can serve it with any berries of your choice. Fresh strawberries or raspberries work best for me. I hope you enjoy this recipe! Let me know how things go.
