Beef is not always a budget fitting produce. T-bone or ribeye or sirloin is not something many people can buy for the entire family on a very regular basis. But there are other cuts of beef that, with a proper way of cooking, can taste just as delicious.

Beef cheeks are a low cost beef cut that needs to be cooked for a long time, releasing a bursting amount of flavors and becoming melt in your mouth tender. Combined with a red wine braise, the meat becomes so delicious, you’ll forget all about t-bones.

To me, this is a hearty family dinner. I usually cook this in a slow cooker, so that I can throw in all the ingredients in the morning and forget about them for the rest of the day. I serve them with homemade mashed potatoes.

An hour before dinner I set out to peel the potatoes and put them to boil. Then it’s all about making the mash, which is quick enough and getting the cheeks out of the slow cooker.

The result is tender beef in a thick gravy-like sauce, full of flavors. Have a glass of red wine ready when you have them out and enjoy a dinner as delicious, as they come! Just follow the simple instructions below.
